This CPD course demo in The Management of Challenging Behaviour is the result of many years’ work supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs developed by staff at Releasing Potential School. The course has been developed for those working in alternative provision or in SEN support within mainstream settings, who encounter challenging behaviour and wish to develop their professional practice.
The course has developed out of a theoretical framework drawing on the work of US psychiatrist William Glasser, and uses techniques derived from Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). The course will equip participants with:
- an understanding of the ways challenging young people are motivated by their needs
- ways to help meet these needs in their work
- practical strategies for minimising instances of challenging behaviour and for dealing with it positively when it does occur.
The course material has been ratified at a Level 2 by NCFE but the CPD version of the course does not lead to a Level 2 qualification.
If you would prefer to register to complete this course as a full Level 2 qualification, please return to the menu and select ‘The Management of Challenging Behaviour Level 2 (SEND).’
DEMO COURSE OUTLINE
Your demo provides access to only 12 sections of 1 unit of study:
Module 1: Understanding personal responses to challenging behaviour
The learner will:
- Consider their own responses to stress in the context of work with young people.
The learner can:
1.1 Describe, with reference to any relevant personal experience, the psychological and behavioural responses to stress that might occur in individuals working with young people.
1.2 Demonstrate two techniques for managing their own stress or that of others.
1.3 Evaluate the effectiveness of both techniques.
Your demo course is for the purposes of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and, as such, is not formally assessed.
If, on completion of the full CPD course, you would like to ‘top up’ your coursework to gain a full Level 2 qualification, this can be done by contacting course tutors via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Learners who wish to ‘top up’ to a Level 2 using their CPD course as evidence, will need to pay a top up fee and may need to submit further evidence as part of the assessment process.
